Our most Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance do you need to be booked?
- This is a full time profession for Nick and Dave
since 1982. If we are available tomorrow, we can
perform for your event. Warm weather weekends often
fill up a year in advance, as do certain times of the
school year, so it's always a good idea to contact us
as soon as you can.
How long is your show?
- We can make the show length fit your needs. Most
people want about 45 minutes. We can do longer, or
shorter. We once did a six minute show with the
Philadelphia Orchestra. It required six
weeks of rehearsal.
For what ages or grade levels do you perform?
- We have performed successfully for many Montessouri
pre-schools and kindergartens: they respond to the
color and music and interaction. We do well with K-5.
Middle school is challenging but we have figured it
out. Senior citizens like our connection to vaudeville.
We do fine with audiences of all adults. (for examples,
see Long Runs)
Can you provide different themes, costumes, or content?
- Yes, circus, Mardi Gras, Vaudeville, Colonial,
Renaissance, Purim, and Christmas are favorites. We
enjoy special requests. We once based a school assembly
on the history of the wheel, and did a Bat Mitsvah in
pink!
How far will you travel?
- The majority of our engagements are within a couple
hours' drive from Philadelphia. That's all of NJ,
Delaware, and Maryland, eastern PA, and southern NY
including western Long Island. But we have also
performed in South Dakota, Colorado, Alaska, England,
and Spain. We like to travel... Feel free to ask.
Do you require a stage?
- We are happy with curtains and stage lights that
work, but we do just fine on the same level as the
audience. With all the interaction we have it is
sometimes even better to have the audience closer to
us. We like them sitting in a semi-circle.
Do you perform outside?
- Our colorful banners and interesting set creat a
strong focal point for outdoor events. We bring our
sound system.
How large an audience can you handle?
- We can pretty much handle whatever will fit in your
space, but the smaller the audience, the more impact
the interaction has. This is especially true for school
assemblies.
Do you teach people how to juggle?
- We are often asked to conduct juggling workshops at
schools, festivals, and corporate events. We have years
of teaching experience, and we delight in passing on
the tradition. Keep in mind that workshops are most
effective with small groups.
Can you recommend other performers?
- From our years in the business we have met a number
of performers we can recommend highly. These include
magicians, balloon artists, clowns, puppets, and a
couple of other jugglers. Contact us for more
information.
